The Story
On Saturday, 26 March at 8:30 PM, Dundee joined major cities across the world for the global switch-off during WWF’s Earth Hour, one of the largest global grassroots movements for the environment. The event brings people around the world together to show commitment to our planet and raise awareness that nature is critical for a healthy future.
In the week leading up to the global switch-off, some of Dundee’s landmarks turned green, this was then followed by the city's iconic locations switching off to mark the global event. Locations included Dundee House, McManus Galleries, the V&A, RRS Discovery, DC Thomson Headquarters, Dundee Science Centre and Abertay University.
Success & Outcomes
Sustainable Dundee also encouraged residents, local groups, schools and businesses to join the global movement and switch off their lights for one hour to spend time reflecting and thinking about how our actions can support a healthier, fairer and more sustainable world.
